THETA CHI FRATERNITY

Recruitment

Welcome To

Welcome to the best four years of your life

Leadership, Brotherhood, Scholarship, Community Service, Intramural Sports, Social Events and more. Get the most out of your collegiate journey.

Our Chapter’s Leadership style is focused on servant leadership. A servant-leader focuses primarily on the growth and well-being of people and the communities to which they belong. While traditional leadership generally involves the accumulation and exercise of power by one at the “top of the pyramid,” servant leadership is different. The servant-leader shares power, puts the needs of others first and helps people develop and perform as highly as possible.

Our Chapter prefers to maintain a close-knit group of around 60 active undergraduate members on campus. This offers earlier opportunities for leadership positions and closer bonds with your active Brothers.

Prior to receiving our Charter as Sigma Chapter of Theta Chi in 1916, we began as the Amicus Club (Latin for Friend). A friendly disposition has been a hallmark of our Chapter since inception. It sets us apart from many fraternities on campus and from caricatures of fraternities in modern media.

Theta Chi hosts a variety of social events throughout the academic year. Undergraduate members and their guests are able to enjoy several types of social events including Formal Dinners, Date Parties, Parents Weekends, Red OX Barn Dance, Red Car Formal, and staple of other social events hosted at the chapter house.

Theta Chi is built around a lifetime of commitment and collaboration. Alumni brothers are always looking for opportunities to come back and visit or help out, even several years after graduation. You form bonds with brothers that will far exceed the bonds you will form with other friends on campus during your time at Oregon State University.

If you are interested in Theta Chi at Oregon State University, please contact us and check out one of our many events! You are always welcome to stop by 361 NW 26th Street in Corvallis and give the door a knock as well. We recruit 365 days a year and are always interested in getting people connected with our brotherhood.

Chapter History

In 1916, Theta Chi Sigma Chapter of what was then Oregon Agricultural College received our charter and became the 18th chapter of
Theta Chi fraternity.

Originally housed at 2305 NW Monroe Ave, which can still be visited as the Downward Dog Restaurant directly off campus, the brothers soon moved to their new Chapter House at 361 NW 26th Street in 1926. More commonly referred to as “The Castle” for our intricate stonework and iconic turret, 361 NW 26th has housed our Chapter since construction was completed. We’re proud of a long history at Oregon State University and a prosperous future to come.
